Rusa deer are medium-sized deer with sharp, pointed antlers, and they are considered the most elusive deer species in New Zealand.

First introduced to New Zealand

The Rusa deer (Cervus timorensis), which was introduced to the country in 1907 from Indonesia.

Male rusa deer (stags) can reach a height of about 106 cm while females are smaller, with a height of around 81 cm.
