Ever since I was old enough to fire a rifle I have hunted the New Zealand back country. I am very passionate about sharing my passion with others and have been a professional hunting guide for over 29 years and an outfitter for 24 years. I’ve guided in Australia, the USA and New Zealand's best hunting and scenic locations. I am also an International Member of Safari Club International, the New Zealand Professional Hunting Guides Association and is a Master Measurer for Safari Club.

Hunting was introduced to me through my grandfather at a very early age. Finally at 12 years old he considered me strong and fit enough to accompany him on my very first hunt, from there I was hooked and with every weekend that came round I would be chomping to get into the hills. 41 years on and the hills and mountains still hold something special as that first day, searching for that lifetime trophy. I have guided professionally for 12 years here in New Zealand and overseas including North America, BC and Northern Quebec.

I started guiding when my voice was still cracking and I could barely grow a moustache, some things haven’t changed. I kicked off my guiding career at 15, fuelled by a love for the outdoors and a healthy dislike for sitting still. Since then, I haven’t looked back. My passion’s taken me across the globe, guiding in Canada and hunting in the U.S. But nothing beats the raw beauty of New Zealand’s high country. If you leave with a trophy, a smile and slightly sore legs, I know that I have done my job as a PH/guide.

My earliest hunting memory is from when I was seven, out in the hills with my dad. We went rabbit shooting, duck shooting, and—of course—hunting red stags. Since that day, my passion for hunting and roaming the backcountry in pursuit of stags—and the mighty bull tahr—has only grown. I’ve been guiding for the past eight years, and I haven’t looked back. This journey has taken me across New Zealand and even to America. The raw beauty of New Zealands wilderness and its rugged terrain consistently delivers unforgettable, rewarding experiences for anyone willing to join me in the hills in pursuit of a once-in-a-lifetime trophy.

I’ve been hunting since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and let’s be honest, the wilderness never fails to keep me on my toes. There’s no place quite like the Kiwi backcountry, and yes, we do it all in our famously short shorts. If you leave with a grin, a good yarn to tell, some amazing Trophies and maybe a newfound appreciation for beautiful scenery, I’ll consider that a job well done!

I was introduced to hunting at a young age by my father, my passion for hunting and the outdoors has just continued to grow. I enjoy spear fishing and scuba diving in summer, hunting red stags and bull tahr during the rut and hunting wild pigs with my dogs during the colder months.

Most of the year I work as a heavy diesel mechanic and in 2018 I worked for a hunting outfitter in Canada's Yukon territory. Even since then I have been involved with hunting guiding in NZ each year. I get a real buzz showing off our beautiful back-country and how we go about hunting big game animals in NZ.
