Brochure
Every year, Lochinvar Safaris produce our own brochure and hunting guide. You can use this guide to request a digital or printed copy. Our team can work with you to plan an itinerary which will accomplish your hunting goals but also make sure your group has time to explore our beautiful country. If you have a particular 'must do', we'll work hard to make it happen.

Some Frequently Asked Questions
-
Will I need a visa to travel to New Zealand?
USA, Canadian and most European citizens can apply for a simple electronic visa called NZETA via a downloadable app which has built in passport scanner and is very user friendly. If travelling onto Australia then you will also need an electronic visa for Australia which is simple to get.
-
What about optics?
We recommend that you bring a good set of binoculars as much of the hunting is held in open alpine country. It is not necessary to bring rangefinders or spotting scopes
as all Lochinvar Safaris Guides carry a full set of high quality European optics.
-
What about Firearms?
Lochinvar Safaris recommends you bring a minimum calibre of 7mm Remington Magnun to hunt all the species in New Zealand. Shots can range between 100 to 300 yards. There is no difficulty in bringing your own rifles into New Zealand provided that they are sporting firearms (no military rifles or handguns are permitted). A firearms licence and import permit costs NZ $25 are obtained online here.
We have a variety of sporting firearms that you can use for a rental fee US$200 including ammunition.
-
How does Taxidermy work?
Expediting of your trophies can be easily arranged with one of New Zealand’s leading taxidermists. Charges or these services are at the client’s expense. We can also recommend some excellent taxidermists in the USA.
-
What clothing will I need?
New Zealand’s climate can change from day to day. Our seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere.
We recommend that you bring light to medium weight hunting clothes so that you may layer up or down to suit. It is also recommended that you bring a light rain jacket and a pair of waterproof boots with plenty of ankle support and deep cleated soles for the alpine hunting.
