SSgt. Jeremy Austin

SSgt. Jeremy Austin lost both of his legs to an I.E.D Explosion in Afghanistan in April 2009. Jeremy is US marine Corp shot a beautiful Bull Tahr, a nice Red Stag and 2 great Fallow Bucks. He then went on to Cull some Fallow Deer at long range along with some Wallabies. Jeremy had an awesome attitude to life and all of us at Lochinvar Safaris wish him all the very best for his future. Jeremy was accompanied by MGySgt Art Garcia, Director of Outdoor Activities at Combat Marine Outdoors.

  • The Red Stag and Fallow Bucks were kindly donated by Leila and Bryce Somerville of Morevale Ranch
  • Bernard Dudli and Ryan Morris donated their guiding services in their own time
  • Mark Harrison and Lochinvar Safaris donated the lodging and return airfares from Virginia, USA to Christchurch 
  • Geoff and Ben Harding of Harding Taxidermy donated all the costs associated in expediting Jeremy’s trophies
  • Esplanade Travel donated the cost of Jeremy’s travel insurance and put US$200 towards the cost of the airfares
  • Air New Zealand and United Airlines both gave Jeremy preferred seating and extra baggage allowance to get his trophies home
