The word Lochinvar is Scottish for Lake in the Valley. Founder Mark Harrison named the company Lochinvar after one of his favourite hunting places on Mt White Station up at Arthurs Pass.
Since being established in 2004, we have formed strong positive relationships with ranch owners giving us access to some of the finest trophies and best hunting grounds in New Zealand. We have also built a team of professional hunting guides whose experience, professionalism and dedication is second to none.
It has proved to be a winning formula with some of the world’s most discerning hunters returning to hunt with Lochnivar time after time.
Ever since I was old enough to fire a rifle I have hunted the New Zealand back country. I am very passionate about sharing my passion with others and have been a professional hunting guide for over 17 years and an outfitter for 12 years. I’ve guided in Australia, the USA and New Zealand's best hunting and scenic locations. I am also an International Member of Safari Club International, the New Zealand Professional Hunting Guides Association and is a Master Measurer for Safari Club.
I have hunted since I was nine years old and by the age of nine had taken my first animal with the bow. 13 years ago I completed a Diploma in Adventure and Eco Tourism and have been a professional hunting guide ever since with bow hunting my passion and specialty. Whether using bow, rifle or dogs, I enjoy hunting and guiding in New Zealand’s beautiful outdoors.
My passion for hunting and big game fishing dates back 25 years when I started hunting varmints and then moved on to hunting big game. I have been a sea captain for over 15 years, holding a local offshore Lifeboat Captain qualification and working as a Fisheries Ranger. I have won three national titles for big game fishing as well as an International Yellow Fin Tuna title. I have worked as an Assistant Guide for Lochinvar Safaris for the past five seasons.
Hunting is not only my passion, but a way of life. I love hunting in the New Zealand back country. I gained an engineering qualification during the 6 years of service in the New Zealand Army. Further study gained me a diploma in mechanical engineering. Currently, when I am not hunting, I work for a gunsmith, engineering custom rifles and sound suppressors for firearms.
